The opposite of religious faith, as a diversity of sacerdotal honourifics would have us believe, is found in expressions of apostasy. This is simply not true. The opposite of faith is the engaging realization of new possibilities, a kind of faith in itself, the liberating and joyful awakening of wonder.

In the end there are two basic faiths, the faith it takes to believe in a god, and the faith it takes to not believe in a god.
